On the "safety", I'm writing a curriculum on safety awareness, safety avoidance, and self defense. And "fitness" will be based on the physical education framework. This will be the first of its kind.

My question is "how should I package it?"

a) Use a belt ranking system is common and great motivators
b) Use a t-shirt to distinguish curriculum
c) Use different colored wrist sweat bands (like tennis players)
d) Other

Some of the children’s families are Title I, therefore, I’m leaning towards wrist bands because it’s the cost effective for all families.

This was also Brad's last fight at 185. Dropping to 170 after this. Since joining the club, Brad has really focused and tightened his game. We will be seeing a new Brad in this fight!
Brad won at 2:36 of round 1 via armbar. The guy tried to go belly down and his arm broke. I am very proud of Brad. He tightened up his game significantly! All that hard work, driving down south for a sweet 2 and a half minutes.

NAGA Southwest is almost here, just over a month away and I have some questions for those of you who don't mind indulging the relatively clueless.

First off, I am not an incredible athlete or hell bent on making a career out of grappling so this is mostly just a test of how far I've developed technique wise and for fun. That being said, I really don't want to bite off more than I can chew so should I stick with just my weight class or go for more than one division?

There is apparently a "consolation ring" for those who didn't place 1st-3rd in the adult divisions, so if I get knocked off early at least I'm guaranteed two matches for the drive up to Dallas. Money is very tight at the moment and without carpooling I don't even think I could make the trip, so I want to get as much competition in as is sane for a 152lb white belt.

The couple of Jiujitsu tourneys I have been to recently I noticed more and more Judo being applied in matches. Further more I have compared sections from Bjj books that were publish 5 years ago to BJJ books that have been written in the last two years. The older books really didn't elude to Judo much at all. In fact the only take down or throw that was even shown was the double leg. In more recent Bjj books not only does the author include Judo throws but even refers to the throws by their Japanese name(ie Ippon seoi nage, Osoto gari). Its like BJJ has come full circle in regards to its origin. I myself like this because I'm a student of both arts.
